DocStory
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 11, 2026. This page explains what information DocStory collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything is unclear, email us at docstory.contact@gmail.com.
The short version
- You can read DocStory without giving us any personal information.
- We collect personal information only when you join our email list or submit an interview.
- We never sell your information, and we don’t use advertising cookies.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.
1. What we collect
If you join our email list (the “Join Now” button or the prompt after reading a few interviews), we collect your email address.
If you submit an interview, we collect your full name, school email address, school, year, expected graduation year, how you’d like to be credited, your answers, and any optional details you add, such as your hometown or undergraduate school. If your interview is eligible for payment, you’ll also send us your PayPal or Venmo username or email when you reply to our verification email.
When you visit, we count page views in a way that doesn’t identify you (see section 3), and we note which website or ad link brought you to DocStory, if any.
2. How we use it
- Email list: to send you DocStory updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Interviews: to verify that you’re a current student at the school you named, to edit and publish your interview with the credit you chose, to contact you about it, and to pay you if it’s eligible.
- Visit counts and referral links: to understand which pages are useful and which links or ads bring people to DocStory.
Your school email is never published. Your name is published only if you choose full-name or first-name credit.
3. Analytics and cookies
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify individual visitors. We don’t use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first.
4. What’s saved in your own browser
Some features save small notes in your browser’s local storage, on your device only. They aren’t sent to us unless you submit an interview:
- your interview draft, so you can stop and come back;
- which interviews you’ve read and whether you’ve joined the email list;
- which website or ad link first brought you here. If you submit an interview, this is included with your submission so we know which links work.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of these.
5. How long we keep it
We keep email list addresses until you unsubscribe. We keep interview submissions and verification emails for as long as we need them to run the contributor program, and we delete them when you ask. Published interviews stay up until you ask us to remove them; see the Contributor Terms.
6. Your choices
Email docstory.contact@gmail.com to see the information we have about you, correct it, or delete it, or to remove or anonymize a published interview. Please email from the address you used with us so we can confirm it’s you. We’ll respond within 30 days.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
